p.34
• (L2) parading: walking proudly with / showing off. 과시하면서 행진하다, 뽐내며 돌아다니다.
  Ex) She was parading around the room in her new dress.

p.35
• (L8-9) follow in someone's footsteps: 부모님이나 롤모델 같은 사람의 삶이나 행보를 따르다, 비슷한 길을 걷다. (관용 표현)
Ex) She followed in her mother's footsteps and became a teacher.

• (L.L-1) put someone in a bad mood: 어떤 일이 누군가의 기분을 확 나쁘게 만들다.
• Ex) The woman I met this morning—what she said really put me in a bad mood.

p.36
• (L2) Most likely to: 어떤 일이 가장 일어날 가능성이 높은 걸 말할 때.
•Ex) He's most likely to succeed. (그가 성공할 가능성이 높다.)

• (L9) block away: 한 블록 떨어진 거리.
• Ex) The convenience store is just one block away from my house.

• (L10) random teenagers: 서로 관련 없고 아는 사이도 아닌 10대들.
Ex) A group of random teenagers were hanging out at the park.

• (L2) get drawn to: 무언가에 끌리다. (*draw = attracted or pulled toward something)
Ex) I always get drawn to people who have a good sense of humor.

• (L5) freak out: 갑자기 놀라서 완전 당황하거나 겁먹다. (= to become very anxious, upset, or afraid)
Ex) Don't freak out, but I think I lost my car keys.

• (L.L-1) straight face: 표정 하나 안 바꾸고, 진지한 얼굴로.
Ex) It was so funny that I could hardly keep a straight face.

• (L3) boom box: 큰 휴대용 스피커 겸 라디오 같은, 손잡이 달린 커다란 스테레오 장치. (CD 재생, 라디오 나오는 휴대용 음악기기)
Ex) He used to carry a huge boom box on his shoulder.

• (L.L) clear out: 어떤 장소에서 사람들이 싹 빠져나가거나, 물건들이 다 치워지다.
Ex) We need to clear out the garage before the new car arrives.

• (L1) think up: 새로운 아이디어나 해결책을 떠올리다.
Ex) How did you think up such a brilliant plan?

• (L2) accuse: 누군가를 비난하거나 탓하다.
Ex) You can't accuse him of stealing without any proof.

• (L2-3) put that thought in someone's head: 누군가의 머릿속에 어떤 생각을 집어넣다. (상대방이 전혀 생각하지 않던 걸 집어넣다)
Ex) Who put that thought in your head? It's completely wrong.

• (L6) regret: 후회하다.
Ex) If you don't go now, you will regret it later.

• (L1) after all those years: 그 오랜 세월 동안. (로더릭에게 치이며 보낸 긴 시간 이후로)
Ex) After all those years, they finally met again.

• getting pushed around: 남한테 치이고 휘둘리다.
Ex) Stop getting pushed around and stand up for yourself!

• (L3) notch: 눈금이나 단계.
Ex) He tightened his belt by one notch.

• totem pole: 서열 (부족의 상징을 담긴 기둥).
Ex) As a new intern, I'm at the bottom of the totem pole.

• (L5-6) lay a finger on him: 손끝 하나 건드리지 못하게 한다.
Ex) If you lay a finger on him, you'll be in big trouble.

• (L7) Like the other day: 며칠 전 있었던 일처럼, 그날처럼, 며칠 전같이.
Ex) Like the other day, he showed up late for the meeting.

• (L3) let someone have it: 누군가를 되게 혼내거나, 강하게 한마디 하다.
Ex) My boss really let him have it for missing the deadline.

• (L1) tinfoil: 얇은 알루미늄 호일

Ex) Wrap the leftovers in tinfoil to keep them fresh.

• (L2) sticking out of it: 무언가에서 빠져나와 있다.
Ex) There was a wallet sticking out of his back pocket.

• (L8) mark my words: 내 말 명심해, 확실히 기억해 둬.
Ex) Mark my words, he is going to be famous someday.

• (L1) drive someone nuts: 누군가를 완전히 미치게 만들다 / 엄청 짜증 나게 하고 신경을 건드리다.
Ex) That loud clicking sound is driving me nuts!
